This page will help you learn how to recognise and report emails, texts, adverts or phone calls that you think are scams.
What is phishing?
‘Phishing’ is when cyber criminals use scam emails, text messages, phonecalls or QR Codes to trick their victims. The aim of these scams is often to make you visit a website, which may download a virus onto your device or steal personal or bank details.
Why you should report phishing scams
Reporting scams is free and only takes a few minutes of your time. By reporting phishing scams you can;
- Reduce the number of scams you receive
- Make yourself a harder target
- Help protect others from the same scam
The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is a UK Government organisation that has the power to investigate and take down scam email addresses and websites. You can report emails to report@phishing.gov.uk
