Belfast MET - Quantum Principles and Post-Quantum Cryptography: An Introduction
Computers with quantum capabilities are fast approaching reality. Their impact on society will be huge. They could help significantly advance sciences such as new drug development, environment solution, develop new engineering products and solution and much more. But in addition to the many opportunities that quantum computers will bring, they also post an inevitable threat to security.
It is estimated that within the decade a quantum computer will be powerful enough to break traditional public key cryptography. It will essentially mark the end of the golden age of cryptography as well know it and will mean that for organisations to remain secure, they will need to migrate to post-quantum cryptography (PQC).
This masterclass will explain the underlying capabilities of the quantum phenomenon, and how it can be used or misused in the field of digital security.
