NICSC at Balmoral 2025

The Northern Ireland Cyber Security Centre (NICSC) recently joined Public Sector colleagues at the NI Government Departments Exhibition Centre at the Balmoral Show.

Organised by the Royal Ulster Agricultural Society, the Balmoral Show has been the pinnacle agri-food event in Northern Ireland for over 150 years and continues to celebrate and showcase our local produce.

Over the course of the event, the NICSC provided a range of cyber security advice and guidance to the general public which included:

  • how to secure mobile devices.
  • how to secure smart devices within your home
  • the suspicious Email Reporting Service.
  • How to spot a phishing email.

NICSC also had lots of engagement with sole traders and small businesses, providing important advice and guidance on how to reduce the risk of their business becoming victims of a cyber-attack, via the NCSC Stop Think Fraud Campaign, ‘‘Exercise in a Box’ and other NCSC initiatives.

Several schools visited the stand and teachers and pupils were provided with information on CyberFirst, the NCSC initiative which provides opportunities to 11-17-year-olds to explore their passion for cyber security.

We were again joined by our colleagues from Go On NI on the stand and this year we were pleased to also have representation from PSNI’s Cyber Protect team.

It was a very busy and productive four-day event which provided a fantastic opportunity for the NICSC to engage with the public and businesses on cyber security best practice.
